Dear members, conference participants, and partner organisations associated with the European Council of Enterostomal Therapists (ECET),
It is with sincere regret that we announce the decision to dissolve the European Council of Enterostomal Therapists.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all who have supported ECET throughout the years, including our dedicated members, collaborators, and conference attendees. We are proud of ECET’s contribution to advancing knowledge in enterostomal therapy, providing a valued platform for scientific exchange, professional networking, and the dissemination of research and clinical developments.
However, due to diminishing industry support and challenges in recruiting new members and board representatives, the ECET Board has been left with no viable alternative but to take this step.
Looking ahead, we believe that stoma and fistula care will increasingly be integrated within the broader field of wound management. From 2026, topics related to stoma and incontinence care will be included in dedicated sessions at the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) conferences. The former ECET Board members remain committed to contributing to the development of this field and look forward to sharing their expertise within this new framework.
For any enquiries, please contact: ewma@ewma.org
All abstracts regarding stoma can be submitted for EWMA 2026 under the category “stoma”.
With kind regards,
ECET Board
